We had 2 pairs of pine grosbeaks at our feeders from Christmas through to when we left for Portugal. Beautiful red birds. ~ Anne
D. Cameron "caught" 2 good sized Large Mouth Bass on Rainbow Lake last weekend (opening weekend). Unfortunately, he didn't technically catch them. Because we fish using only barb less hooks (we practice a strict catch and release policy) a couple good jumps and the fish were gone. Better luck next time. Tight lines. ~ K. Cameron
Maximilian Dining Lounge
I was reading the supplement for International Women's Week in the local paper (March 5,2009) and my eye caught sight of an item on Maximilian Dining Lounge.
In the description I read " .first opened its doors in 1974 in Maberly by Miro and Jane Brandejs. Maximilian quickly became a success and moved in the town of Perth."
Does anyone know anything
about this being in Maberly? If so, please contact us. I'm sure that others, in addition to myself, would be interested. ~ Eileen Barbeau
I remember it. It sat where the fire hall is now. In the 70's we used to have supper there. At some point they moved out of Maberly and into the building on the north
east corner of Gore & Foster and then to their present site.
In the Maberly Hall, there is a picture of the gas station & restaurant which preceded Maximilians on the
corner of Highway #7 and County Rd # 36. ~ Walter Downs
